Reading up on some of the current international research
topics this week had me in a humble mood.
Seeing that they have some of the same concerns and research topics that
we have here in the United States is great!
Early childhood education is believed to be universal and it is obvious after
reading up on the websites given in the resources for this week. Below are some of the current international
research topics:
·
The use of technology to facilitate music
learning experiences in preschools
·
Young gifted children transitioning into
preschool and school: What matters?
·
Hearing voices: participatory research with
preschool children with and without disabilities
·
Reconstructing playschool experiences
·
Coordination and supervision of early childhood
education in Ghana
·
Assessment of Interactions and Stimulation in
Single-Mother Low-Income Families
There is a lot to gain from each of these research topics. Some are individualized and some are
universal for all of us in the ECE field to learn from. I found each website informative one more
than the others; the European Early Childhood Education Research
Association (EECERA) was very easy to navigate through and understand.
I have attached the links to each website
that I visited so that each of you can read yourself.
Early Childhood Development Virtual University (ECDVU)
Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA): Developed and maintained by the University of
Victoria, Canada, this virtual university is the international gateway for
early childhood research worldwide. Through the link below, you can access
ECDVU’s Sub-Saharan Africa portal. The second link takes you to a list of
current early childhood research conducted by students in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Early Childhood Australia: This is the Australian equivalent
to the U.S. based NAEYC. You can access several links to early childhood
research from the menu on the left side of the home page.
European Early Childhood Education Research Association
(EECERA): This international early childhood organization publishes a well-respected
journal. All back issues are accessible from this site and are fully searchable
without charge.
I also found that many of the research topics that are happening in the US are also happening internationally.
ReplyDeleteI found that not only was it interesting that the same issues are happening everywhere but the degree in which the issues are prevalent in each area are interesting. Also sprituality was brought up in my research which was something I had not seen in other research or advocy information to date..
